LocalScribe

Privacy policy

LocalScribe – Offline Audio to Text & Subtitles, published on the Microsoft Store by TIANHPRO.
Effective date: 8 October 2026.

Summary

LocalScribe processes your audio, video and text only on your own computer. We do not collect, store or receive any personal data.

Your files and transcripts

What we do not do

Internet connection

LocalScribe connects to the internet for two things only: downloading a speech recognition model the first time you use it, and checking or buying the Pro upgrade through the Microsoft Store (see Purchases). Models are downloaded from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). As with any web download, that server sees your IP address and the file requested; no audio, text or personal information is sent. After a model is downloaded, transcription works fully offline.

Purchases

The optional Pro upgrade is sold through the Microsoft Store. Payment is handled entirely by Microsoft under the Microsoft Privacy Statement; we never receive your payment details. The app only asks the Store whether Pro is active on your account.

Log files

LocalScribe writes a small log file on your PC to help diagnose errors. It contains technical information only (app version, graphics card, settings and error messages; an error message can include the name of the file that caused it) and never contains your audio or transcripts. It stays on your PC. It is only sent to us if you choose to attach it to an email.

Removing your data

Uninstalling LocalScribe removes its models, logs, settings and temporary files. Files you saved yourself are not touched.

Children

LocalScribe does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
