Which files can I open?

Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, WMA, FLAC. Video: MP4, MOV, WMV (the sound track is transcribed). Drag a file onto the window or press Ctrl+O. If a file does not open, convert it to MP3 or MP4 with any converter and try again.

Do I need an internet connection?

Only once per model. The first time you use a model, LocalScribe downloads it: Fast 60 MB, Balanced 190 MB, Accurate 574 MB. After that, everything runs offline. You can download or delete models on the Models page.

Which model should I choose?

• Balanced (default, free): good accuracy for most recordings. In our Vietnamese test it got about 95 % of words right.
• Fast (free): for slow PCs or a quick draft. Much less accurate for Vietnamese.
• Accurate (Pro): the most accurate (about 97–98 % of words in our Vietnamese test), slower on the CPU.

Tip: choose the language by hand (for example Vietnamese) instead of automatic detection — it is more accurate.

How fast is it?

It depends on your PC. Measured on a desktop with an Intel Core i5-12400F (6 cores) and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, a 10-minute recording took:

On a laptop with 2 cores / 4 threads, expect roughly 3 minutes (Balanced) to 12 minutes (Accurate) for 10 minutes of audio on the CPU. Loading the model and reading the file add a few seconds.

Does it use my graphics card (GPU)?

Yes, through Vulkan, in both the free version and Pro. The setting Use GPU when available (Settings) is on by default when your PC has a dedicated graphics card, and off when it only has integrated graphics (you can turn it on to try). The first GPU run shows “Preparing the GPU for the first time…” while the graphics driver prepares itself (only once, it can take up to a minute). If the GPU fails, LocalScribe runs the file again on the CPU and tells you; you do not lose the result. Keeping your graphics driver up to date helps.

What does the free version include? What does Pro add?

Free: the first 10 minutes of each file, the Fast and Balanced models, TXT export and copying text, GPU acceleration, unlimited number of files. Pro is a one-time purchase in the app (no subscription): files of any length, the Accurate model, and export to SRT, VTT and DOCX.

I bought Pro but the app still shows the free version

1. Make sure the Microsoft Store app is signed in with the same Microsoft account you used to buy Pro.
2. In LocalScribe, open Settings and click Restore purchase (also available in the upgrade window).
3. If it still shows the free version, restart LocalScribe while connected to the internet.
4. Still not working? Email us with your log file (below). Refunds are handled by Microsoft through your Microsoft account order history.

Some lines are hidden or greyed out

Speech recognition sometimes invents text over silence, noise or music. LocalScribe hides such lines instead of deleting them and tells you why. Click Show on a line or Show all to bring them back. You can turn the filter off in Settings (Filter segments without speech).

How do I send a log file?

1. In LocalScribe, open About (or Settings) and click Open log folder.
2. Attach the newest file (localscribe-YYYYMMDD.log) to an email to thanhtruong23111999@gmail.com, and describe what you did and what happened.

The folder is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\TIANHPRO.LocalScribeOfflineAudiotoTextSubtitles_8fyda25162pj0\LocalCache\logs. Logs contain technical information only — never your audio or transcripts. See the privacy policy.

System requirements

Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11, on x64 or ARM64. 8 GB of RAM recommended (the largest model uses about 0.9 GB). Free disk space for the models you download (up to about 830 MB for all three).

How do I remove everything?

Uninstall LocalScribe from Windows Settings → Apps. Models, logs and settings are removed with it. Files you saved yourself are kept.
